I just need an OS for a car PC that will play DVDs', MP3s' and possible GPS... which begs the question, is Linux still free, if not I might as well get a bundled copy of XP with the hard drive I'm buying for it. And before any of you ask, no, I won't copy windows...

Linux is GPL'd. Any program that is GPL'd gives free access, modification rights and distribution rights to anyone that obtains a copy. Linux will always be free, once GPL'd software cannot be unGPL'd under any normal circumstance.

DVD + MP3 shouldnt be a problem at all, but does anyone know of GPS software he can use under Linux?
