regular soda is bad because of the sugar and the empty calories. Diet soda has no calories or sugar what so ever, just a little big of sodium... so that does mean drinkin diet soda now is okay?

would you drink diet caffinated sodas over drinking coffee if you need the caffine and if taste is not a factor?

As for the second question, no.. soda doesen't contain enough caffeine to compete with coffee.

Your choice:

A) drink synthetic chemicals in diet sodas to simulate sweetness
B) drink sugar from regular sodas to taste sweetness

The problem with option B is the amount of sugar used. Take a look... It's probably equal to the sugar found in a couple slices of Cheesecake.

Look at it this way.. A sugar packet has 15 calories. How many calories does 16oz of soda have? A LOT OF DAMN SUGAR

I've been drinking diet soda for several years and I'm not dead yet :p (although I haven't had as much lately)

If you want to be healthier don't drink soda at all.

If you must drink soda, you're better off drinking regular than diet.

I noticed the same thing myself. When I tried to switch to diet pop, I seemed to get hungrier.

Yup.

What happens:
The sugar substitutes cause your body to expect sugar. You taste the sweetness and that triggers some reactions in your body to expect sugar in the stomach soon. When you don't get that sugar, the craving remains. I've seen a few people test this by switching to regular soda. They slowly lost some weight.

I get lightheaded when drinking diet pop. Nothing can say it doesn't have some effect.

? so they lost weight?

Yeah. Not fast and not like they were doing anything really healthy that made the weight burn off. They simply weren't eating as much because they were getting their sugar cravings through the soda. Try it and see if it happens to you.

What kind of soda are you drinking?

Last I checked Coke is sweetened with HFCS...which is man made...to increase sweetness.

soda's are so fvcking syrupy, i don't get how anyone can drink it. diet soda's are better. i actually like soda water by itself, but it isn't always easy to find.

It's more expensive but it is possible to purchase sodas made with cane sugar, not corn syrup. I had a Dr. Pepper with cane sugar a few months ago and it was much better. Too bad it's hard to find and expensive.

Carbonated water makes me want to projectile vomit.
