Hey all. So I was waiting for the release of the 7900.. and well the specs are a bit disapointing to me but the price sounds really nice. Still I have a lot of respect for ATI and being canadian myself I like to support a canadian company everytime I can.

With that said I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be buying a x1900 in the next few weeks.. but it would really make my decision easy if ATI slashed their prices to be more competitive with Nvidia's recent price slash announcement.

Who thinks this is gonna happen and what do you think the new prices might be for the x1900 series after nvidia launches their 7900 series?

The price slash rumors are just that rumors, nVidia hasn't officially announced they will be slashing prices but if they do ATI will probably follow suit.

ATI doesnt need to put their prices down much to compete with the 7900 cards. I am guessing there will be a big price drop when the next set of ATI cards are out.

i think that all depends on the performance and the pricepoint of the 7900 series

Everything depends on the performance and price of the 7900GTX/7900GT. If prices are like the rumors ($299 for GT, $499 for GTX), and the specs we have are correct (24pp 650/1600 for GTX, 24pp, 450/1300 for GT) I don't think you'll see much of a price drop if at all, since ATi will remain the performance leader. However I think you will see the launch of the X1900XL which ATi will need to compete with the 7900GT in the $250-350~ market, hopefully it will be 16pp w/ 48ps, and around 550 on the core/1100-1200 MHz effective on the memory.
