So is anyone really using Google Calendar?

As with every other Google beta, I decided to try it out. I even imported my Outlook calendar into it and shared it (free/busy info only.) But honestly, the current beta of Google Calendar sucks. There's no real Outlook synchronization (like I have with my Yahoo! Calendar)--instead I have to export a flat file, then import it into GCal every time. Even then it still screws up--all my appointments imported 3 hours early even though both Outlook AND GCal (and my computer's clock) are all set to Eastern Daylight Time.

The only thing I wanted from Google Calendar was the ability to share my calendar with friends, and share free/busy info with everyone. Yahoo! Calendar doesn't quite have that yet. But without that, its kinda useless.

Interested to hear your thoughts and experiences so far...

I use my Mac Mini, laptop, desktop, work, lab, cluster, and parents' PCs. It's nice to have my calendar handy wherever I go and never having to synchronize or whatnot.

🙂

I use outlook, and it syncs with my pdaphone. So all my contacts go everywhere I do, internet access or not.

i use outlook at work primarily cuz of exchange, aside from that, I'm adapting google calendar and hope it will offer a way to sync with mobile devices like a treo soon.

I'm on the go and have multiple machines at any given time. Universally accessible calendar FTW

The one thing that's still keeping me is that they don't support Opera. I've been using Yahoo Calendar forever and Google's looks more flexible though - no need to reload pages, etc. It also doesn't appear to be able to sync with my PDA calendar... yet... and I do that a lot. One other thing mentioned before, sharing events as public. It appears the users allowed must be manually added and this isn't truly "public".
