Well... as you all know working in the Airline Industry is not exactly a save position to be in. So in roughly 45 min my Manager will have a talk with us and tell us what he has been told in an all day meeting with our CEO.

Delta as an employer rules. I've been here over 4 years and really like it. I hope I make my 5th too ;)

So wish me luck!

Well... survived for now. Looks like I am still going to be arround for a little while. However... one of the packages offered is a SWEET deal!

I was external consultant for the Windows 2000 migration project at Bombardier Aerospace and i'm now...well, unemployed! They've cut 3800 jobs last week.

Wish better luck :)

It would have surprised me if they would cut anymore. Northwest is actually rehiring a bunch of the people they laid off 2 weeks ago because of the recent upturn in the number of people flying. If that trend continues, it would be foolish to do anymore cuts right now.

The most appealing offer that is on the table:
Take a kind of leave of absence.
  • Get paid a one time payment of 2 weeks for every year you been with the company. But a minimum of 8 weeks.
That is nothing special... but here comes the interesting part.
  • Keep full flight benefits (We fly for free if the plane is not sold out) for a year.
Keep full health benefits for a year as well.

Now... this is tempting. And if I wouldn't be married and had a little one I would do it in a heart beat... Fly arround the world for a year... I could deal with that! ;)
While we stand finacialy solit... I really don't know if I want to take the plunge. It would be a good start into my own business... or whatever I want to do. However that could backfire big time.
On the other hand... I really like the people I work with... I work cool stuff and my Manager is a personal Friend.
It goes without saying that I can not expect any bonus or sallary increasy for at least a year... and that with another child on the way. Bad timing I guess.

Well... my wife and I have 14 days to make up our mind. I'll let you know if I still have Flight industry insights in a while ;)

Again... thanks for all the well wishes!!!
