I need to quote four sources for an analogy paper -- could I use a book in general (ie this book tells how this happened, etc), or do I need to find a specific thing to quote?

3rd college English class..I should know this..
 
it depends on the assignment.

if you draw general ideas from a book but nothing in specific, you should still cite the book name in-text when you first mention the ideas.
