So, I'm walking from my car to the building this morning

I personally find it a little sad that people engaging in small talk are considered out of the normal. Each time I talk to someone out of the normal in the morning I find it tends to lead to more positive feelings.
I've noticed this as well. I'm a pretty introverted person and ain't one for small talk. When I go out for a cig break at work, I normally pull out my phone and read the news or an e-book on there. Sometimes one of the other couple people who smoke at my work also will come out and if we're standing by each other and he says "Hi" or starts a conversation, I'll put my phone away and pay attention even though all I want to do is keep reading and not talk. But I find I enjoy the short, usually trivial conversations and am in a better mood when I go back inside as opposed to when I'm just out there by myself.

Maybe it was a disguised radiation detector... I am telling you man, there's something going on in your building. Maybe he was suggesting that you get late tomorrow.

Dear diary: The seeds of doubt paranoia planted last week seem to be sprouting. Further observation of subject required before the plant of lulz is in full bloom.

Some people love to talk.

I had a lady tell me she got new floor mats in her car, when we were walking out of work.

"Great!"

i hate small talk. especially with strangers. i would have told her to stop talking to me.

You're bad at small talk. He just wanted sympathy or something. "It could happen to anyone man, darn phones" or whatever.

That's exactly how I am too.

It does seem we have all become much more enamored with what is going on within our devices than we are our immediate surroundings. People just walk around face down buried within their cell phones now. Can't wait to see what wrist tech plus cell phone is going to look like eventually (short of ridiculous).

Verbally throwing up on people is rude. Especially first thing in the morning. Stick to the traditional meaningless platitudes.
