So I'm trying to sell a brand new Xbox360...

Am I wrong to say no? I was given it as a present. However, it can't be returned because it was purchased new off of Ebay.
Anyways, I'd rather have a Ps3. Aside from the whole PS3 vs XBOX360 argument, is there a problem with me telling this potential buyer that I found, "Uh....Its a brand new sealed console. I'm not opening it".

Does anyone think that I should open it up to 'prove' it works? Of course, there is a chance this bad boy will RRoD once I start it...but I'm not interested in opening up the sealed package to test it out. If it RRoDs after he buys it, I figure its between him and Microsoft's warranty services.

Say NO

EDIT: 360 > PS3.

You do know the RROD issue was fixed a LONG time ago?

Nope, just find another buyer.

Oh, and I suppose I'll throw in a pointless PS3 > 360 since that seems to be the thing to do.

If the price is right you should have no problem finding another buyer that won't want you to open it.

I'd do it if he let me hold the cash.

I try to open packages before I leave regular stores, much less a random guy.

I have 2 machines that prove you wrong......I use them 1x every few weeks too. Been enjoying my quiet, stable PS3s too much. 360 would have been much better systems in my eyes if I had not had to RMA them 2 for one and 3 times for another.....PS3s never had a problem since launch.

Can you tell I am bitter...;)

Umm, I'm going with "no". Do you get to open / try it before you buy it at the store? Didn't think so.

I think the price is fair. brand new X360 premium (that stupid lego + panda pack) with GTA4....GTA4 was purchased used...200 for the package.

How old are your 360s? Do they have the new jasper mobo, or are they the old ones?

Ive had my 360 break 5 times on me....but its still the old model. I was under the impression that the RROD cant happen anymore on the new mobo.

Nope. go online and read...search "japser rrod". Are you talking about falcon? Aww god I don't even want to get into this anymore. For sure this is one of the reasons I'd rather have a PS3.

Anyways...the consensus seems to be "NO"...which is what I was hoping for. Now maybe I need to adjust the price a little

 Check with MS, but shouldn't the original warranty transfer too?

I was under the impression that the RROD cant happen anymore on the new mobo.

Only because they changed it to error code E74 (ba-dum, pish! try the veal.)

But seriously, Falcon motherboards not Jasper are still in most Elite units and many Pros and they supposedly have a RRoD rate of 10% (allegedly, no firm numbers exist).

What you open it and he decides to not buy it, even though the system is 100% working? You'd be fucked b/c now you have an opened item which instantly makes it used/discounted unfortunately.

Tell him he can open it once he gives you money for it and leaves your house/apt/whatever.

I had a situation like this a while back. I explained the situation to the buyer and told him that the price between opened and new is $75, so that it will cost him $75 toward the purchase if he wants me to test it for him. Of course, I could lie and say it works when it didn't but they guy then decided to purchase it new sealed in box because he didn't even want to chance me ruining it. I would rather purchase something from a person new, sealed in the box as opposed to opened, played with, and perhaps even modified.
