So I'm trying 1200x1920

Its

weird.

How do you guys do it? Aside from forums like this and maybe PDF & DOC viewing I should think it mostly sucks. Why do people bother?

I have tried my 1920x1200 display for this purpose, but in all honesty I found it too large at 24" for this use. A buddy of mine as a 22" 1680x1050 mounted sideways, that he uses for PDFs, and forum trolling and it is marvelous for that. 1920x1200 displays are just too big IMO to be rotate sideways and use for text reading.

You mean with the monitor rotated vertical? Yeah, tried that with a Samsung monitor I had, didn't like it at all.

Donkey Kong.

my coworker who is a completely worthless project manager type has 4 monitors like that on his desk. and he's only in the office like 2-3 days a week.

of course us actual developers do not get 4 monitors like that. i can see it being very useful if you had 2-3 of them.

I think 1200x1920 really shines in a matched pair (2400x1920). I've been using this setup since 2007, primarily for programming, viewing long docs/specs, and www browsing. I _love_ being able to see lots of text without scrolling. To each their own, though--your use and mileage may vary.
