So I'm selling my PSP on eBay and got this email

damn those Nigerians are getting smarter, they don't send out plain generic messages anymore, they try to add a little flavor

"Hello seller,l will like to buy your phone for my friend, i will like to know what you are asking for your item,i wiil pay for it through bidpay(www.bidpay.com) since it is faster and gets, approved in a maximum period of hour ,so i will want you to advise the name and physical address where the payment will be sent to and a valid email address for confirmation payment to be sent. but before then, i"ll like to know how old is the psp or how new? Too how soon can it be ready for shipment because i will like it to get to himby surprise in nigeria, where he is.Thanks expecting your reply. And i can make you an offer of pounds 600 if you want."

don't do it. had this happen to me. e-mailed bidpay to confirm. they are full of sh*t. Just do a search on ebay, these guys are everywhere

I think if you ship before you actually get M.O. in the mail and wait for it to clear maybe. I have no clue.

He will send you a fake confirmation e-mail from bidpay for an exhorbent amount of money most likely. He'll then ask you to send the tracking info to some bogus bidpay e-mail address, if you don't send the tracking info you will never receive the money. But if you do, you won't receive the money anyway.

If it's looks too good to be true than it is

Legit or not, if I had a suspicion this guy was from Nigeria or some other God forsaken place, I wouldn't send him so much as a box of flaming sh!t.

This sound familiar?

I verified with BidPay .. they said they never require seller to send tracking number .. so if you encounter buyer who ask for tracking number ... it's 100% scam!!!

I have also just been cheated. I responded to a mail which offered to pay me via bidpay. The chap claimed to be Dr Lionel Stevenson from Canada. He asked me to send the item to an address in Nigeria to his nephew. The agreed trade-in value is good. Out of greediness, I proceeded with the shippment via UPS. I received an email confirmation from bidpay that money order has been purchased and has been send out via first class registered mail through USPS. Upon checking with USPS, it was discovered that no such money order has been purchased. Enquiry from bidpay reviewed that the email was not send from bidpay. Please note that email send from bidpay always ended in XXXX@bidpay.com. UPS tracking reviewed the item was received and signed by someone by the name of "Alex Ng", instead of the Nigerian name send to me.

I am very very skeptical about retrieving the item and recover my delivering costs. I will take this as a learning lesson and I would like to share my experience to all. Nonetheless, I have send a email to Nigeria Embassy in Singapore hoping that they can gun down the culprit based on the address I deleivered the item to.

A sad but learning experience .....

If you google "Bidpay Scam" tons of things pop up ...

LOL, it's Rubber Johhny!

How bout this:
1. Get a box a little bigger than the correct size for a psp
2. Put packing peanuts inside
3. Go #2 or find some laying around and put it at the bottom of the box (roadkill works just as good)
4. Seal the box completely using tap, every opened area will release the sent
5. Fed Ex it

If he actually does give you the money, tell him to not open the package and mail the real thing. 😛
