make sure you have a high starting perc if you want to be a fighter. at least 8 (around 10 is probably ideal). will is also important b/c it's the secondary attribute for most of the piloting and fighting skills. int/mem are for support skills so you shouldn't skimp on those either. charisma is useless, leave it at 4 if possible. i would rank the attribute importance like perc, int, will/mem
train up the learning skills. I would raise them to level 3/4 first, then train up enough skills to pilot a cruiser (possible a battlecruiser) effectively (just so you don't bore yourself completely) then raise the learning skills to 5 then the advanced ones to lvl 3 (or 4).

har har so true. i'm quitting the game after about 3 months of play b/c it's so boring. i just can't stand the travelling time, isk grinding and long skill training. it feels like i'm wasting too much time not having fun.
chocobaR, if you want i can donate a few mil to you since i'm quitting anyway
When you start apparently you are supposed to choose prof. and frigate for your options so that you start out with Frigate at level 4. I found out too late. I dont think im going to continue past the free trial time but before I leave im going to go on a rampage.
get yourself into a good corp right away, that is the only way to play the game

Good start. Should put you at Frigate IV off the bat - if you've got the scratch get into a Merlin ASAP. Otherwise, get a Condor and start rathunting for practice.

Just hover over the skillbook icon to the right of each. You should go for, IIRC - Operations, Pilot, Captain Training

There's a lot to do in this game that's interesting, provided you join the right corp. The "right corp" would be just a group of players with similar interests banding together under a player-created corporate banner, who work together for both self-interest and common good. More fun comes with pvp and fleet battles in alliance space.

I changed my character cause I messed up on the attributes. My new character is Jancis
He's a lot more balanced now.Intelligence 8
Charisma 6
Perception 10
Memory 8
Willpower 9 (will be at 10 in about 9 hours)
I have about 260K. I will buy a Merlin when I get enough
