🙁 am I screwed? I already play CoH/CoV. Am I totally going to get sucked in?

We need new emoticons.

i guess it depends. i played for almost 2 years, since release and i was just mulling around the last 2 months i paid for it. I was really hooked after i finished school and i levled 2 60s, pvp to almost marshal and was part of a 'high end' raiding guild.

enjoy the game and remember to enjoy life more.

It's possible to play in moderation, but you might get sucked in, chewed up, and spit back into society as a shell of a man that you were... That's just the risk you take with MMORPGs though.

I've tried several servers. I've tried opening ports, disabling firewalls, and eventually dumped myself onto the DMZ. I can't play for more than 5 minutes before getting lagged out. I can ping my gateway just fine with sub-15ms times. I have several other MMO's and none of them have any lag problems at all.

This totally blows. I can play long enough to get a kill, but then I get lag and I can't interact with anything.

I did almost the same(still in school though, ugh) made lots of in game friends, then realized the game had consumed me, that it had become and addiction, and that, i was bored... I think i'll try real life for a while, maybe till the expansion comes out 😉

I don't think it's possible to play WoW in moderation, especially when you're part of a top tier raiding guild. The involvement during raids is so great that you risk loosing rank (within the guild) and your raid spot if you go afk. I guess it's ok if you're single and living alone w/ nothing else to do at night.

Meh, apparently there's some huge hardware problem with the Blizzard servers after an upgrade in preparation for the expansion pack. I can't play for more than 5 minutes before getting DC'd. How ironic.

Nothing new there. Blizzard servers fvcks up every night at exactly 12AM PST for about 30 minutes, every Tuesday after server maintenance, and every time they put in a new patch. The last one just fvcks everything up 'cause your toon can end up anywhere in the world, the patch makes all your plug-ins and add-ons obsolete so you have to reinstall and reconfigure them, and you get booted from the server every 5 minutes.

I'm able to play WoW about once every three days and no more. I don't really have any cravings for it, just my friend likes a buddy to play with.

i so miss playing an mmorpg. i'm so sick of the idiots that play fps games.
there's just nothing out there that interests me now. i played WoW for about 7 months, got to 60 with a druid and like 38 with a warrior and a few other classes at lower levels.

raiding pretty much killed it for me. i don't mind a raid that lasts like and hour or 2 but when i played, my guild would start raids right when i needed to go to sleep for works the next day. plus 1 went to molten core once and that was all i needed to see that it wasnt for me. way too long waiting for people and just to go through and not even getting anything after wasting all that time.

Do you have a Linksys wireless G router? I had a problem playing beta with mine and it turned out to be a bug that never got fixed.

Yeah, I run a WRT54GS. Can you link me to the bug? If I throw custom firmware on the router again, will that make a difference?

Well, I didn't stay with it as I figured out after a short while that WoW was another lousy EQ/DAOC clone. But, no, I don't think custom firmware would help, but search for it on google and see. Anyway, I just wanted to help you identify the cause.

I quit after 6 months of playing , I just got bored of it (thankfully). Different strokes for different folks, though, my friend is freaking hooked on it (has been playing for 2 years straight, he has like 4 level 60's).

I think people who've never played one before are totally wowed by it.....no pun intended.

Cool, thanks for the heads up.
