Paying $689 (well work is...well the people paying my company to be here are) for tonight's room (staying till Friday) and even for Manhattan I thought it was definitely on the high side even for this area. Figured there was something going on but didn't really think about it.

Got up here and 42nd and 3rd has two huge full dump trucks across it blocking traffic, concrete barricades on the sidewalk....oh and Secret Service is all over the friggin place. One guy saw my "I steal music off the Internet" shirt and said "I do too" which is pretty frickin cool. Yeah, the UN building is two blocks away and they have a few visitors in for the week.

Here's to hoping I don't get blown up by some friggin protester.

cliffs: I'm probably sleeping in the same hotel as some world leaders tonight

edit: me no spell well

I just checked in a couple hours ago and there was guy, I think he was an Admiral in the Navy based on his uniform, with a group of about 15 people walking out of the hotel being escorted by Secret Service. While I was checking in there was a guy behind me with Republic of Korea credentials behind me waiting. Thought it was cool cause he's some powerfull looking guy and I'm...well...me, and he's waiting for me.

This is one time when the standard :camera: request is probably not a good idea.

How's your room? Nice, or ordinary? For that price I hope they give you extra towels or something.

Dude said he upgraded me room for me to one with a view. I have a nice view of a brick wall so I dare to imagine what room I had before. They also stuck me with two twins which is a no-no. Other than that it's nice.

I'm gold VIP with Hilton but this is actually my first time with this chain. Hilton was full.

Keeping an eye out for anyone from Thailand....might have to give them a quick "ha-ha". :)

local news is showing all the protestors today and they showed all the streets closed to traffic. They actually just showed Bush's route which I would think they learned their lesson on that about 40 years ago. I dunno....

That's about 6 or 7 blocks from the UN, I'm about 2.

they have a millenium UN hotel, which is one block away from the UN

Ahhh, I just looked at the address....you're right. Google maps put it between 6th and 7th.

An assassin and a getbush talking about the UN meeting, let's hope the secret service doesn't visit this thread.

lmao, you're posting this, presumably from the comfort of your hotel room...
you believe there are a bunch of foreign dignitaries in your hotel...

And, your nic has the word "assassin" in it...

 Secret Security has been posted outside your hotel room.

Dropping by NYC tomorrow for an Oracle Users Group Day. Don't think we'll see any admirals there, though. ^^
