and I need some suggestions as to what I should serve with it. I have no idea what "goes well" with fish.

lightly oil some asparagus stems and drop them on the grill. a baked potato would also fit in nicely.

White wine?
All I know about Tilapia is that you must cut it thin or people will hate it.
Someone told me that once long ago - don't even know if it's true - all I can say is that the one time I had thick Tilapia I hated it.

My parents don't drink at all, so white wine won't work. The fillets I bought are pretty thin--it's just grocery store produce.

Pardon me for being less than socially aware of othe cultural dishes, but what in the hell is Tilapia? Don't say Google, because I know that already. Everyone makes a recipe for something a little bit different.

Although you're using White Wine, the alchohol in it will cook off and just leave a hint of the flavor of it. It's not like they're gonna get drunk off of a teaspooon or two of wine in a dish that is sauteed.

Edit - thank you for the info

Tilapia is a very mild-tasting fish. I think I read somewhere that is the most prevalent farm-grown fish, outside of carp

Tilapia = rubbish fish here in Hawaii. It lives in canals and murky dirty water and such. They eat anything and are NASTY NASTY NASTY. LOL!

I think tilapia tastes excellent, personally. What fish would you recommend?

Mahi Mahi!

Ok I will give you that...mahi mahi is great, if not better than tilapia...but it's not sold at any grocery stores where I live (Crawfordsville, IN)

I hate salmon, too fishy.

I get mine at Sam's Club. $7.00 for 5 pounds. Check with your local butcher as well. He may be able to order it for you.

I actually bought my tilapia at Sam's. They didn't have any mahi mahi though :(

If your salmon tastes fishy it's gone bad.

No fresh, cooked fish should tasted "fishy."

I personally like Salmon, Mahi Mahi, Swordfish, and calamari steaks.

Other good fish to grill are halibut and trout though I don't care much for either.
