This is how I did mine.

1) Bought a cute / cool looking stuffed animal. In my case it was a moose dressed up like Santa.

2) Tied the ring to the Moose's hand with gold ribbon.

3) Placed it under the Xmas tree so she'd notice it as soon as she walked into the room.

4) Sit by the tree reading (hoping that you wont be too nervous) and wait until she notices it.

5) My case....saw the moose, picked it up and was looking at it saying it was real "cute" etc....blah blah. then noticed the ring.

6) Happily married for 10 yrs.

The first one is a simple one that was its own charm, if you will. You're not likely to hiccup on it and it's a great idea.

ROFL. 2nd.

However, if you suck with a dremel and/or solder iron, I personally think that incorporating the ring into the ornament that you guys exchange would be the chessiest of the three, and thus, in a female's mind, the best way to go.

That's why I like this one, too ;)

Good luck and post results! :D

Thanks, and will do!

I'm picking my gf up from the airport on the 30th. I'm thinking of proposing to her there. I'm gathering all our friends to witness. As she exits the terminal with her lugage I will be waiting with all of our friends behind me. I'll get down on one knee and make a little speech and propose in front of everyone at the airport. I just need to buy a ring. Whatca think?

You could also hold up a sign with her last name (like limo drivers do). Then, flip that card to reveal "Will you" followed by "become" followed by "Mrs. <your last name>?"

Congrats on making the decision ... any of the ideas you had were pretty good ... and marriage is a great thing, don't listen to any naysayers.

I guess I'm one of those n00bs... (Even though I'm hapilly engaged as well) I say don't do it on Christmas... Christmas is already a special time of the year, and is also a very common time to get engaged... There is so much going on, other family, everyone is busy, etc...

I say do it on a day that is special to the both of you... on your anniversary or something... Reason I say this is because the day a girl gets engaged is a huge deal... Make it her day - nothing else is going on and she can cherrish it as much as possible without having to worry about everything else that is going on that day as well... the possibility of one of her friends getting engaged as well on Chirstmas - taking away from "her day" even further...

Just my suggestion... but that's what I suggest... :) but your going to do it on Christmas anyway since you've already decided so like I said... Congratulations... it will be a special day regardless... :D

I agree with everything AdamSnow said. I personally would propose to her immediatly, and then have all the xmas partys and goings on for her to announce ya'll engagement and show off the ring (and you) to all her family and friends.

I like the first one :)

Another thought would be to hang the ring on the tree as an "ornament" and let her find it :)

Asking on Xmas is crazy. A woman wants her day to be special, not tied into some religious holiday and shared with all.
