So I'm going to let a complete stranger live with me for a month

I live in a one bedroom / one bath apt that I pay $610/month. I decided to post an ad on CL to rent my room out to someone to help with costs. I'll be sleeping on the couch and they'll take over my furnished bedroom. $450/month including utilities (they pay nothing extra, and have access to my wifi and cable). Someone answered my ad and wants to come from the end of the month until next month. We have exchanged a couple of emails, along with adding each other as friends on facebook.com.

I really like the idea of having a roommate, again. I've been living by myself for the past 7 months, and I'll admit it can get pretty quiet at times (I previously lived in a fraternity house where I could ALWAYS find something to do, or someone to hang out with). So the company will be appreciated, providing it's good company.

On the other hand, I realize that this is the internet. Anything could happen, or this guy could be crazy--if not a totally different person than he says he is.

The reason for posting this: I want your input.

Have you done this before? Is this a horrible idea? If you have done this before, how were your experiances? Any advice?

I did that - the last place I was in I was initially the stranger moving in and they took in another guy . . . a tattoo artist - he seemed alright at first, but it deteriorated somewhat. But then again, I've lived with plenty of good guys prior. Just make sure to set explicit rules as to what is cool/ what isn't, IMO.

Good luck.

WTF? You're going have a roommate in a one bedroom apartment and it's not a girl? Why are you so short on money?

I'm just looking for a little extra cash to catch up on some CCs and whatnot. That and with Christmas, my bills are just getting to be a bit much.

I really only sleep in my room, nothing else. It's not like I spend time in it throughout the day, or have any other reason to be in there. And, to be frank my couches are the sh!t! I sleep on them all the time, anyways. They are quite comfortable. So to give up my bedroom to a stranger for a month isn't demanding that much of me. An extra $450? Why not? Right?:)

do a background check 1st

And how do I go about doing that?

I initially didn't understand what you were asking, but I'm now guessing you think I'm someone else? I'm not. I'm my own self.
