So I'm going to college next year, got my room assignment, found out who my roomate was, and then........

..... I talk to the guy on facebook and come to find that while being a really cool dude, is going to a different school that he got off the waitlist from. He say's he told the school over 1 month ago, yet I still got placed with him.

Who thinks I get a double to myself, and who thinks I get some whining roomate who complained about their room/roomate and gets switched into my room?

Just don't say anything to anyone. If your RA stops by and asks where your roommate is, say you "haven't seem him". Bring an extra set of sheets and an extra pillow, make his bed, put stuff on his desk, etc.

My freshman year at college I somehow got paired with an incredibly hot Asian female (I forget her name, but I think it was one of those names that could be either male or female). Unfortunately this was against school policy (damn them!) so she had to move out the next day. I had my own room for about a month until I got paired with someone that another person didn't want. The guy was a bit of a nutjob but somehow we managed to make it through the year without wanting to kill one another.

So yeah, don't count on getting a room to yourself for long.

Yeah, when you know that you have a situation like that this early, you'll usually get somebody put in there with you...whenever someone got lucky, it was when a roommate moved out a few weeks into the semester.

It's summertime and the people working in the offices at school don't give a crap right now. Just wait till the first day and some random dude whose room assignment got jacked up will haul all his crap in. My advice is to get there early so you can pick the more comfortable mattress. And don't forget to get a nice thick mattress cover b/c the last guy who had that bed was probably a chronic masturbator.
