I want to give my 1995 Geo Prizm a tune up. My basic plan is to replace my spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. To do this, I'll buy the following parts from Autozone:

4 Denso Standard Plugs - $1.69 each, part #5016
Wells Ignition Rotor - $2.79, part #DR925
Wells Distributor Cap - $26.99, part #JD974
Double-silicone wireset - $35.99, part #9019

I have the factory shop manual for my car, it recommends NGK or Nippondenso plugs. Does it really matter? Choosing blind I'd probably take Bosch Platinum plugs, just because it's a good name.

As far as the ignition rotor goes, I can also get a Beck-Arnley model for $11.50. Should I? Why is that one more expensive?

For the wireset, I can also get a Bosch wireset for $49.99 or a Beck-Arnley wireset for $74.75. Again, does it matter?

Anything else I should know before I start? My uncle's going to be helping me since he's fairly good with cars.

don't get bosch platinums 'because it's a good name,' the plugs suck ass for what you pay for them. get the NGK/denso.

I would look in the manual for your car and see what it recommends, if it doesn't give any specific brands, then just go with the cheaper products, as you will not know the difference, other then in your wallet. I would go with the NGK plugs if I were you, they are cheaper then the bosch plugs, and they are good plugs. Once again, being a Geo Prizm you will not feel/see the difference in the parts.

The parts store should have NGK plugs.

Yea with it being a prizm, nothing against your car, I would just get the CHEAPEST items availible. You will not notice any difference whatsoever between the $30 wire set & the $70 wire set, nor with the more exspensive rotor/dist. cap.

Looks like Advance Auto Parts has NGK plugs, but not the exact part number listed in my manual. Probably doesn't matter though.
