#1, what does it do and how does it benefit me.
I'll most likely just give it to my sister since she uses the phone more.

lets say the provider that gave me the card has free nights and weekends
I just put this in anyphone, and I wil get free nights and weekends on that phone?
I'm sorry but this is all new to me.

the sim card contains your phone number, etc. it identifies you to the cell phone network. it's the same as when they used to "program" the old phones when you bought them so that they would be your phone. who gave you this card? cause somebody has to pay the bill on the account or the card is useless.

If the SIM card is "prepaid", you don't have to worry about monthly fees. Also, make sure the phone you'll be using with is "accessible" by your provider's network otherwise you have to find ways to "unlock" your phone unit.
