So I'm getting a motorcycle

I'll be getting a 1981 Honda CM 400 pretty soon. It's been in storage for about two years. What are some things that I will need to do once I get it - to make sure it runs well. Preferably the basic minimum - I'm trying to save bucks.

Thanks

Tuneup. Oil and filter change. That includes air filter for good measure.

Should be about it. Maybe check the tires for rubber rott(cracking).

Oh yeah, don't kill yourself.

What he said.
I'd also check the tires if the bike is 20+ years old and has been in storage for a while like that.

Any ideas of the average cost of a tuneup?

what everyone else said. make sure there wasn't any gas in the tank, though i'm sure if it was put in storage correctly there wasn't. but definitely the oil and filter.

check
breaks, includes, pads, levers, lines.
gas tank,
check all hoses for rot.
will need to clean out the carbs and possibly float bowls. tires, sprockets and chain.
