I have been together with my girlfriend for close to 3 years now. We have talked about engagement and living together, but we have talked about is like it's something we will do in the future. Few days ago we were cooking some food together when the subject of engagement came up (nothing serious as such, we often talked about it). She mentioned that "That (engagement) won't happen unless you make it happen". I replied: "I'm not going to pop the question while we are peeling potatoes", but I started thinking... A about minute later I said "maybe we really should get engaged". She looked at me and said "Yes, maybe we should".

Last saturday we went and bought the rings

don't think you got off so easy, she's gonna think about it for a while and say "you never really proposed!". you're gonna have to go a a nice restaurant or something and do it again for real.

Well, the engagement is the easy part. Once I ask her to be my wife (engagement being more a promise to marry than actual proposal), things get more hairy. I think we do things differently in Finland 🙂

Wish I could say congratulations in finnish, but the only, um, Suomi (sp?) words they taught me were swear words... 😀
