So, I'm drinking more lately

Cliff ntoes version:

Growing up, my dad drank every night. Good drunk thuogh, not a bad one.
My brother had problems with alcohol.
I had my problems in college.

Then I got my job 5 years ago. Since then, I drank about 2 beers per month. That's it.

For the past month, I've probably been drinking every other night. Probably 3 beers on average.

I worry about where this could go.

I have a baby now and it seems like all my fun in life is gone. To be clear, I love my baby and wife. It just seems like we never go out any more. The baby just keeps our hands tied. And I'm using beer to "kill time"

Anyways, thought I'd share. Please someone give me a kick in the nuts.

For the record, on beer #3.

A baby sounds like a lot of stress, so you drink, which is one more thing to stress about, so you drink more, stress more, etc.

Do you want your child to learn the tradition that your dad started, and carry it on because it's a good drunk?

My girlfriend and I have discussed not having kids for that very reason. It seems like they either make or break a relationship and the lives of the parents. They take away all of your free time, individually, and as a couple.

It's why I'm snipped. I can imagine this turning into a huge debate though, I'm marking it for later 😉

moshquerade,

yup, I see the pattern. All my life I've good about being anal. That is a good thing. I quit smoking goofy grass on my 21st birthday. I promised myself it would be the end of it and it was. Same with beer every suimmer I was home.

Anyways, I can quit cold turkey if I really want to. I honestly thin kI need a vacation. My compnay gives me 2 weeks vacation for hte first 10 years! Then I get 3 ... whoooppppieeee

sm8000,
Hilarious. In-laws will do.

Off to the local entertainment venues to ee if I can find some entertainment.

quit drinking and find the joy in having (more) innocent fun at home like *GASP* board and card games that can be played with the baby around? If you get away from video games and such for a while, suddenly more boring things become a lot of fun.

I've never understood what people have against videogames. How are they any worse for you/more of a waste of time than board or card games?

An average of 1.5 beers per day really doesn't seem like a problem to me

If i drank every day, but I view 3 beers every other day as a totally different scenerio.

That's like saying someone that goes on weekend benders only drinks 4 beers a day. (2x10 vs 3x7)

Evil comment, but honest. I know. I have to do something about this.

Other comments ... no, I'm not getting "snipped"

Probably because the only video games that could be considered a family activity either suck or require a massive time investment. Then there are games that don't suck and can be played for 30 minutes a stretch, but are extremely violent. Of course, that is more of a commentary on the current video games available than on video games in general, but still...

I don't know too many people that spend hundreds of hours a year playing monopoly or uno. 🙂

that wont last forever. and you can get a babysitter if you have relatives willing to help or know some people with teenagers hardup for cash.

me and the ex got out regularly, my mother loves watching the kids so it wasnt a problem for us.

otherwise, i might drink 2 nights in a week at most and never heavily. chill out, give things some time, itll get better.

in the meantime, kids sleep...you and the wife ought to be able to have enough fun without going out.

if you cant

get her to drink with you 😉

Reflect on your times with games. How often did you .... OK, games are pretty cool as long as played with friends. On the net or alone probably have negative psycological effects.

Anything is bad for you, if not in moderation. Even... sex.

What you learn about relationships via online gaming isn't real. laughing with friends while playing in the same room is different.

Online, people are not your friends. Even ATOT is an example. I spend to much time here . Games are teh same way.

Pointless convesration....... on 3rd beer.

Time for bed.

Night all.
