So Im doing my AZ License

I was bored this March break and decided Ill do my AZ license since my dad is a truck instructor and one of his friends has his own driving school. All I can say is that it's pretty fun driving a truck and having this stuff as a skill is a good back up in case you want to fall back in careers in life. My first lesson it took me around 15-20 minutes how to shift properly and that's with never driving a manual car in my life (not that it matters because double clutching is totally different). On the 3rd day I was pretty good basically driving with no problem, a few slight issues with downshifts and turns, but nothing serious.

Backing up is a bitch right now, I was doing some today practicing driving in a straight line and turning etc. Im also driving 2 different trucks, one is a Volvo, not sure what year, but it's really easy to drive, 10 spd, shifting is cake. The other truck is a 2007 International with some sort of Cummins diesel. A total bitch to drive, 10 speed also, but the gears are so whack and you have to be fast, really sensitive also to throttle and shifts. I wonder how it would be like to drive one of those Peterbilts with 18 spd and half gears and shit? Anyone drive any of those?

Any advice for a newbie trucker to be? I also love the feeling of being able to demolish most things on the road, when driving my car I always have a fear of being crushed. In the truck, although more aware/cautious, I feel a bit more safe 🙂
