and everytime I ask them how much they charge to shave my cat, I just feel dirty. It's just too close to sounding like a prank call. Some woman at one of the grooming places actually said "I can shave your pu$$ycat for $65 if she's under 6 years old, if older it's $75." :Q

By the way, does anyone have a long haired cat that they get shaved? I've got a 11-12 years of long hair that sheds all over and is constantly digging at her fur. It's been confirmed several time that she doesn't have fleas/ticks, it's just irritate skin. Will shaving her down help this?

This looks like my cat, except she is black with white splotches.

As for the cost, It's worth it to me as I KNOW she isn't going to like getting shaved. She goes to kick, scratch, scream, bite, and do whatever else she can to get away. Plus places like the head would be tough.

I'd rather have someone else get scratched up.

After calling around a bit, it seems because long haired cats hair is so fine and soft, you MUST cut it down to around 1/8 - 1/4 inch. If you cut it longer, it will look bad as it will be spotty and rough in places.

I have a pet groomer and my ex shaves my two long haired cats. They really don't put up that much of a fight when she does it.

they don't shave their heads too, do they?

couldn't you just get her groomed.. washed and combed? shaving her seems so.. drastic.. she's gonna be really embarrassed..

We had a long hair cat that ended up with really bad mats, so we had to take him to the Vet.

They shaved the poor guy right down to the skin, no all over but in large patches. The Cat couldn't seem to sleep because to was way to uncomfortable having anything against his skin.

Wasn't pretty, ever seen a cat with sleep deprivation. He would sort of sit and nod off, but wake right back up because he would rub a bare patch.

My mom has a persian long hair and shaves her every summer... cat loves it! But when the hair grows back it will mat pretty easily so if you shave your pu$$y once you'll have to shave it again for the rest of its life.
