Ive already got a practice sword, its samurai style. Me and my friend want to learn to swordfight. Anyone know any good sites that could explain techniques to use? Swords are so fun 🙂

Hm... think this is one of the first "Me and my friend are going to sword fight" threads I've seen here.
Hopefully it won't turn out to be like A Christmas Story... "You'll cut your arm off! You'll cut your arm off!"
😛
Sorry I can't be any real help. 😉

Ya, there are about 8 of us that are buying swords. We are going to go out to Coyote Pass (a place by a friends house) and go Coyote hunting with them. Its gonna be great fun!

Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. 🙂

lol... if you're going to practise on each, get some wood budles... Dowling works allright if you get some tight rubber gaskets to hold the bundles together... you can try bamboo as well, though that's a little more painful, and too light IMO..

think they are called boken's. You can normally find these at martial art stores or through various magazines...they are basically wooden swords so you don't kill each other.

first buy some sticks and learn escrima. Then when you get better, buy a sword and accidentally cut your own hand off and regret what you did cuz you're a fool.

I can't be the only one who thinks this is the dumbest idea ever. Why don't you go lion hunting w/ a swiss army knife? BTW, how the hell do you expect to just walk up to a coyote?

(shh, you're only discouraging him from doing it)

i think it's a great idea! i've gone wolf & coyote hunting with swords before, and it's a ton of fun! they're surprisingly easy prey. my advice would be to have a friend trail you by 200 feet or so with a vid cam that has a really good zoom lens so he can capture all the action without distracting you too much. but don't listen to any of these naysayers, swords are tons of fun and very safe.

is this guy for real? hunting wolves with a sword? I don't think they were stupid enough to do that even in the middle ages.

Come back and fight me you coward!

But seriously ... coyote hunting with swords is great fun! But to be sporting, you really ought to use a broadsword, anything quicker then that, the poor bastards haven't a chance.

I like to go deer hunting with my rambo knife. I jump out of trees and land on their backs, then I go "Squeel like a pig, boy", then wrestle them to the ground.

<---ate too many nachoes last night 😀
