Came back from college for christmas, and am going to help him build a new computer (the whole point here is that, hopefully, he can do it himself next time). I didn't have a lot of money to work with, but here it is:

Asus K8N (NForce 3 250)
Athlon 64 2800+
512MB PC3200 memory (Centon, from CompUSA-didn't have a choice here, and probably will be upgraded soon)
XFX GeForce 6800
Antec Solution Series Case, 350W (again, CompUSA, and again, no choice in the matter)
30GB WD HD, 40GB WD HD, both from old computer
Santa Cruz audio, from old computer
52X CD, 52x32x52x Memorex CD Burner, both from old computer
Floppy Drive from old computer

The only thing I'm worried about at the moment is the power supply - hopefully it's not a problem, but I won't know until Saturday. His current computer has a 400watt Antec Solution Series PSU, but from the looks of it (this is over the phone) it may be on the way out.

The more recent Asus boards have been having issues with Antec and Qtec PSU's - if poss go for thermaltake, enermax or Hiper. :)

I have also heard of problems w/ Asus A8 and Antec PSUs. Really underlines the need to do your homework before buying parts. Perhaps you can call Antec - they may have a solution - even if it means crossshipping you an updated PSU. A good brand 350W psu should be plenty if your mobo has the P4-12V connector to power the CPU.
