So I'm an idiot, need help wiring house

So, I'm trying to run some ethernet cable from the hub to my upstairs bedroom, anyone have any hints on how to get it there, non-ghetto style? I was hoping to run the cable through the air ducts, but it will likely have to go around a few corners, anyone have any tricks of the trade? Thanks

Drop the cable from the attic to your basement, then up to your hub. Cut holes in the walls for junction boxes and get some keystone jacks and wallplates so everything looks clean. I did this with some cable I had to run and was fairly easy. Only snag was running the cable from the attic down to the basement. Kept getting caught up on something near the chimney.

whoa whoa, talk simpler, note the idiot part of the title. I am dealing with the second and third floor of a duplex, the hub is on the second, my bedroom is on the third.

Ah, well in that case you don't even have to worry about dropping down to the basement. You more than likely can just drop straight from one floor to the next. You'll probably have to drill a hole to get through the second floor. And wiring keysone jacks are simple. Just follow the color codes on each jack, and wire them on the A connection for just a patch cable. However if you want to just go through the air ducts, that's really simple.

i thought so too, just cant the ducts are small though so i cant really see into them, and they do turn down and to the left/right and im having trouble specifically getting the cable to go through the duct and not bunch up

run a peice of string through, tie the string to the network cable and pull the string!

Electricians use "Fish Tape": costs about $20 at the hardware store. Or just use a straightened wire coat hanger.
