Hey all,

I Took off my Evga 6800 LE/Ultra heatsink/fan and applied some AS5 to see if that would help cool it better. It hasent, so I have decided to get a NVSilencer. Now I have read here that AS5 is conductive and should not be used on the mem chips. I have not had any problems since I applied it, so I must have done an OK job.

My question is: when I install the NVSilencer,What is the best way to remove the AS5 currently on the mem chips without screwing things up?

thanx

um....rubbing alcohol and carefullness?

i heard you can use some goo remover with q-tips and it should come off....oh but wait, that was with the pink stuff....it might not work with AS5

If you dont get the silver on mem chips legs ur safe, but its a risk, you norm use ceramic on them and if you want use the silver on the gpu core.

I thought AS was slightly capacative rather than conductive. Either way, you'd want to keep it away from the metal conductors on your card.

I'd imagine the best way to clean it off of memory chips would be the same way to clean it off cpu cores: 97% isopropal alcohol + carefulness 🙂

I can verify rubbing alcohol is very good on AS5, and use a cloth to gently wipe away, it should be fine.I have got it on the bridges of AMD CPU's without any problems, though not on graphics card mem chips.
