Are they all that small? The ones i looked at were the eee 901, the 1000h, and the hp 2133. These things are so small, im pretty sure I cant find a use for them other than just net surfing. The font on these things is tiny, and you cant sit further than half an arm length away from it and read it.
What is the consensus from the big and tall folk with these things?

Smallness is one of their major objectives. Their main purpose is portability.

wow.. imagine that. a netbook thats small!
what is the world coming to?
who would have possibly imagined that a netbook with a 9 or 10 in screen would be ~small~

I can't stand netbooks. And i'm only 6'2". I carry my 17" DV9550t all day long though at college and don't consider it a problem. And I love the screen place. With it's extra capacity battery, dual HD's, it only weighs a little over 10lbs, so I really don't understand peoples complaints.

Yes, but 10lb is still 10lb. If one is at school and also hauling a lot of books and the like around (math and science texts spring to mind) the 7lb difference between a netbook and your 17" 'laptop' as well as the size savings will be significant.

I have been staring at one for past 17 hours as we drive to Florida. Its pretty handy with my cell phone tethered.

In addition to that, there's the bulk factor. I can fit my Eee900 into my work bag. My Lenovo I needed a separate computer bag, and combined with my work bag, and the large cooler I take to work, it's quite unwieldy. With my full sized lappy, I would guess I was carrying 30lbs around. Shaving a few pounds, and several inches is a big help.

My co-worker was walking around with the Eee PC 900 in one of his cargo shorts pockets. Heck, he could have carried two of them, hands free and without using a bag.
