So if you know you're going to get X hours of sleep (where X is about 1/2 of what you'd like) and you can either do it earlier (in which case you do what's preventing you from sleeping after waking up) or later (in which case you do what's preventing you from sleeping immediately), which would you choose?

For studying, I always choose to study first and sleep later. But this is packing and it'll take about the same amount of time either way. Which would you choose?

I think they've done research that indicated you should do it before you sleep as you'll be better off.

I will almost always try to do it before I sleep, as its always better knowing that its done (which usually makes sleeping easier, as I'm not laying there thinking about it). Sometimes I am just so tired that I can't even think on it and so will lay down. Somehow when I do the latter I always end up managing to wake up earlier than I even need to and get right to business on it.

sleep is the one variable you can put off....

Unless you are more effective with sleep, in that case, I'd go to sleep;

I'd pack until I just felt completely used up, then sleep and then finish what's left when I wake up.
