Saw a news report that included imports of how cars are stacking up in the ports and not selling. Why are they not offering great incentives then? Maybe they are not hurting as much as the claim? You would think they would give great incentives, but I really do not see them that much...

The "Big" 3 are offering deals. Heck even Toyota, who "NEVER" offers deals is offering them.

Nissan had almost 1/2 off their full size trucks at a lot of dealers.

Right now you can get full size trucks/suv's for almost 30% off. Some cars are close to that (impala for example). With the Red Tag event there's no negotiating on the vehicles and they are priced out at "invoice". That takes away the profit to the dealers so GM has to be kicking in money to subsidize that somehow.

I really doubt that they are making much money after it's over(as is evident by their cashflow). A cars cost isn't just material goods. It's also having to pay health care, retirement, and other benefits to the employees that built it.

The Cadallac deal in my area is running two promotions, one is instant $4000 from factory, and the other is $2000 from dealer, totaling $6000 off a some onew cadallacs. I know the local ford one is running a lot of combination deals, whereas before it was pick one.

I think they are trying to just increase cash flow for right now by selling them for minimal profit. I thought about buying a new truck, but I would have to sell my current one to make the other half of my down payment. And if Ford can't sell a new one right now, I don't think my chances of selling a used one will be much better.

:confused: Actually, your statement is asinine. They are not making plenty of money since they're costs are so high. And if you watch tv or read the paper, all of them are promoting large discounts/promotions on their vehicles.

Good luck selling a used truck of almost any age these days. I tried to sell mine about 18 months ago and finally gave up. Heck, I only got ONE phone call about it.

People looking for a newer truck just go buy a new one. People looking for a used have so many options to choose from that they can drive the prices even lower and still get exactly what they want.

They've never offered zero percent financing til now.

Not true. They've had 0% on closeout models for years now. And even the new Tundra had 0% on it almost since it's release. This current promotion is a little more inclusive though.

But, this 0% deal is only for 36 months. Not as tasty as the 60 or 72 month rates that other brands have routinely offered.
