So If I use 4X in a 16X I will only get 4X right?

I got that NEC DL 16X DVD burner from newegg and I only have 4X dvds so I won't get the full speed right?

You can try and burn them faster but the burns may not be good. 4X isn't long to wait.

Oh, and to answer your question. You'll likely be able to write at 8x. Maybe 12x if the media is good.
