So, if I send the OPENED package, would it still considered as new? And charge with TAX?

Ok, I wanna buy a motherboard from U.S (I live in Canada). If I get the store to send the package (Box) to my friend's house in U.S then he opens it and send it without recipt. Would it still considered as NEW (with original box but opened/used) and charged with TAX?
Or should he change the whole box afterall then send it?

<< Gift? So, no TAX will be charged? >>

oh geez, forgot to read it thoroughly. it'll be charged tax if your friend buys it and he lives in the same state.
but if you buy it and they ship it to him.... if you're concerned about duties, get him to send it to you as a gift on the declaration. there should be no duties on this. but they do keep track. so don't do it too often. and if it's over a certain value, it might get a red flag but it should be ok.

But if he opens it and put it into another box, let say an old and ugly looking box and claim it as used or something like that. Would TAX still be charged?
