they will ship you another one as long as you can pay for the 2nd too. They will credit you back once they get the defective back.

Luckily the CC i used is linked to my dad has plenty to cover it. That would definately be an acceptable solution.

Hmmmm, im running the Memory diagnostic and even the quick one is slow as molasses. Ironically enough, everything is passing, just very very slow.

it's gotta be memory or cache of some sort that is bad. it's possible for memory to be defective yet not lose data. it could also just be a defective mobo/chipset. i'm curious as to what a cpu and memory benchmark would show. that is, if you could get sandra to even run. lol.

Some companies will send you a replacement with a shipping label included, just slap the old one in and pop it on your doorstep. Many want you to send it in first though.

IBM will send Fedex to pick up the defective computer at their expense. They are really good about it, even refund the shipping charge on the order. Unless they've changed the return policy recently. Actually since the laptop is shipping out of China, and they usually use next or 2nd day air, so you should pick free ground shipping but still get next or 2nd day air for free.

I've dealt with IBM warranty service for my old ThinkPad A21p, both times for 3rd party pieces (had a Matshita-built swappable CD-RW drive fail, and had the 3Com NIC fail). Both times IBM shipped the replacement first along with a return label. They require a CC, but they do not charge it unless they fail to receive your returned item within a certain time-frame. When I dealt with them, they used Airborne Express and the turnaround time was about 24 hours.
