I went to get a new phone and plan today and after I did the paper work, the guy asks me for a 400 dollar deposit!! I was like WTF. I asked the guy why he wanted a 400 dollar deposit and he said "I don't know". "I DON"T KNOW"!?!?!?
1.) Why would they need a 400 dollar deposit? (lack of a credit history?)

2.)Shouldn't the guy have known what he was charging me for?

Anyways, I said screw it and left.

If it is because I don't have a credit history, is there anything I can do about it?
I don't have a credit card. I just have a check card.
(btw, I'm a college student)

I see Sprint in UR future 🙂 ... the most they will ask you for is $125.00, which is given back to U after a year

I know they will give it back after the one year, but I don't want to give them 400 bux for them to sit on. I can use the 400 bux. Like I said, I'm still a college student.

true ... $400.00 is a lot of money when U are in collage

It's a deposit if you have no credit or bad credit. A friend of mine had to do it, and got his money back at the end of the year or whatever.
