Nothing currently available in the retail channel from AMD outperforms Intel. Every hardware review site has proven this through benchmarks. Having a brand preference is fine, but at least know it's no longer on top.

I actually didn't think the new Mac Pro is that expensive for the hardware that you get in it. Coupled with the ability to take the QuadCore Xeons when they come out... Its not that bad a deal. Granted, I might not run Max OSX on it. But thats beside the point.

An average user and a mac mini will do jsut fine, jsut liek an average user and a dell dimension....

Due to the nature of the internet, the average user will probably experience spyware and malware much quicker than the mac user. It will all be based simply on who advertisers and software developers target, but that doesn't change the fact that Window's is the prime target

You keep going back to your question. As far as I can tell, an unopinionated answer would be:

- The salesman was correct in that Macs do not get anywhere near as many viruses as a PC (reasoning may vary, but it is simply true that the virsuses are not even WRITTEN as often for a Mac, thus they are not as prevalent).
- The salesman was correct in that Macs do not end up with as much spyware/adware, for the same reasons as above. Most adware/spyware is made for PCs running IE, thus Macs are rarely infected.
