First interview, wore tie (did not get job)

2nd interview wore khakis and polo (did not get job)

final interview wore blue jeans (to be determined)

This is for the same company, the company i currently work for a video game company

Good idea to wear to the interview what you would wear on the job?

Usually you get dressed up for the interview, just to show courtesy and respect to your interviewer and to show that you are a professional. It's the case with most companies but if you work in the gaming industry maybe it's different...

Wear a step above what is worn on the job. I'd feel weird walking into some of the places I've worked in a suit and tie for the interview.

You're going to get a lot of suit and tie answers because I'd assume most people here work in an environment where that is (or is a step above) what is worn on the job.

i went for the casual more relaxed look. The president of the company wears jeans on the job so i didnt want to look to fancy.

It doesn't matter. Even though the work environment may be casual, you still should dress up for your interview. Most companies up here in NorCal are pretty casual. Engineers come in shorts to work in the summer but still if you were to apply here, we'd expect you to dress nicely. Once you get in its a different story.

If he is wearing jeans I'd just wear a nice button shirt tucked into khakis. It works with every level below it.

I have an interview scheduled in a week, and was just informed they are a 'business casual environment'.
I may just cancel it altogether then. I wasn't actively looking, and the headhunter sort of sweet-talked me into it, but now that it turns out the job is in another location from the one I expected, and it's a bc environment, I feel less and less inclined to even go there.
