Went by Sears first, they had it for $2089.00 +tax.....
Then despite my better judgement I go by Circuit City, they have it for $2199 (w/ $100 gift card) + tax
I wanted to get it from CC because they could have it delivered in 2 days, Sears would take until next week :(
Anyway, I ask the saleperson to maych Sears price, they give me the "let me talk to my manager" BS.
They come back and say, ok...and gave me some sales babble....blah, blah, no gift card...blah, blah...
EEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
What did you say?
The salesperson brings the manager over, I say, are you going to pricematch the TV or not?
He says (in his Al B. Sure gerry curl 'do) ya, but then I can't give you the gift card. I was like, wtf? That's the reason I was thinking about buying this tv from you, also because I wanted to use the gift card towards a new receiver also.
He says, I can only give you that $2089 price if I don't give you the gift card.
So I walked out, and will be buying my TV at Sears today afterwork
-----
I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from CC again. Hopefully the new best buy here in Pensacola, FL will be open by Xmas.
CC is SUCK-------->>>>>>>BIGTIME

appears to me that what the manager did was right. the gift card is a promotion, if you do a price match, then no gift card because most companies wont allow you to stack 2 deals together. you only get one not the other, pick your poison.

I see no problem here. You generally can't combine two separate benefits together. Either you take the gift card or the pricematch, but you can't have both.

A gift card is just like a rebate... and people pricematch AND get rebates, so why can't it be applied in this case?

CC has always been great. Best Buy? Please... just wait til you go in there to try and buy something... then you will see truly crappy service. More like Worst Buy.

These guys are right, it's either GC or pricematch. Unfortunately you can't have it both ways.

With a name like iamwiz, that comment is ironic. If you are buying from CC you ARE paying full price, SUCKA!

Gotta love --->>>noobs, eh iamwiz82?

CC is far and away better than best buy or any of those other stores. I've never paid full price at a CC yet either. They usually will give you great deals if you are nice to the sales people and just be friendly.

unless CC's pricematch policy says something about excluding rebate, giftcards, etc, when doing a PM....the manager was trying to pull a fast on you.

Like other people have already said, go ahead and start tempering your expectations for Best Buy right now because I had the same mindset you had before we got our Best Buy a couple years ago and it's been rather disappointing. Best Buy has a good selection and I do enjoy browsing there. But as far as actually buying stuff there (and I mean expensive stuff, not DVDs or software or basic hardware) I've quickly learned my lesson. Most of their staff doesn't know much about the products their selling, their main goal is to get you buy the extended warranty. And if you should try to return something, good luck. You'll probably be successful, but you'll have to stand in line for half an hour, jump through 30 hoops and submit to a full rectal exam for you and your product. You can certainly say the same thing about CC or any B&M retailer like that to some extent. But I've found it to be especially true with Best Buy. My worst experiences with CC have been an absolute dream in comparison.

I agree, CC is a dream to shop at compared to Worst Buy. I would choose Sears over Worst Buy anyday.
