So I went to an interview for a co-op

The interview went pretty good, and they must've been somewhat interested or else I would not have talked to 4 different engineers... I spent a total of 2 hours there. On the phone I was told that I would be reimbursed for travel since I go to school 3 hours away and I simply drove there for that then came right back today. But I left without knowledge of whether or not they will offer me the co-op position and nothing about a check or whatever. But everyone all had copies of my resume so they have my phone number and address. Anyway I was gonna write a simple thank-you email to the main guy I met there and I was wondering if I should inquire about the reimbursement or not. I don't want to sound like I'm begging for it but I don't like to be lied to, I know that he told me that on the phone when we scheduled the interview. And they know how far I had to drive so I think they pay by the mile. It was only about $25 or $30 in gas and the experience was worth it anyway but again I was told I'd get paid! So inquire or just wait for phone call about co-op offer and/or check in the mail?

Wait until they offer you the job or reject you... if they reject you, ask for reimbursement. If they give you the job, it was worth the $25 🙂

You should send the thank you note by email, it will get there quicker, and also thank everyone that interviewed you.

Regarding getting reimbursed, before you left your interview, did they ask for receipts or expenses? When i went to an interview, it was 20 bucks for the train, I just ate the cost even though they did mention reimbursement at some point.

that's a good idea.

Nothing about receipts or expenses. RIght, I was thinking if I got a offer the $25 is moot if I'll be making good money for 9 months, but if I don't... they betta pay up!

If you met with any HR type person, you could inquire through them or your initial point of contact if you do not get the job.

If you do get the job, just mention it the the HR person when you check in. They will not think the less of you for doing so.
