So I went for LASIK!

Had it done in November of 2000, and I still see 20/20 to this day (I wore corrective lenses from 1988 until then). The worst part for me was that my eyes were very dry for a few months. Best elective surgery ever.

I got LASIK done the day before Thanksgiving 2006. I had glasses from 1986 until then. The halo effect lasted actually a while for me (at least a year, but fading with time). Now I have no halo effect. Best money I've spent in my life. You cannot put a price on vision. I absolutely hated having glasses and I dealt with it for 20 years.

Your brave, I read up on the risks and still won't do it. Glasses are not that bad.

Yeah I can't believe it myself that I finally grew balls big enough to go for it.

I STILL have trouble watching that scene from Final Destination. Never mind the fact that it goes terribly wrong, just the part where they clip the eyes open and stuff. *shudder*. The thought that they had to do that to me as well. I was definitely uncomfortable but not as bad as I figured. I still have more trouble doing the eye drops. If I could replace the eye drop feeling with the same feeling as the laser firing in the eyes, I'd do it in a heart beat.

i really don't mind wearing contacts most of the time and glasses some of the time just to give my eyes a break. most girls i've dated think i look dead sexy in my glasses. only reason i don't wear them as much is because i love driving with sunglasses, my serengeti driver's brown aviators, and those work with contacts. i could understand not wanting to wear glasses, but i can also understand not minding either.

Been a few weeks now. Last local appointment showed me that I was at 20/20. I still see halos at night but that is several months I believe. Focusing is getting better, not as dazed anymore. Contrast is still not 100% but is getting better. Overall good progress and happy with it.

Unfortunately though, I now am starting to get floaters that are relevant and not just the small ones that you see for a moment and slide away. I googled and sure enough some people develop them. I just hope it does not get too bad. I will mention it next follow up as I have one in a few weeks.
