So I was watching "The Crow"... Brandon Lee Question

I was wondering, what happend to Brandon Lee. I know he died and everything but I heard a bunch of different stories and never really heard what happend. Anyone care to enlighten me?

i remember hearing he got shot during the making of the film using a gun that was supposed to have blanks in it? probably bs...

What happened was a gun was loaded with prop bullets. No gun powder in the casing, already detonated primer and the bullet. Looks exactly like a real bullet, just no way for it to actually fire. One of the prop bullet's primers wasn't detonated. When the gun was fired during a previous scene, the primer had enough force to push the bullet into the barrel of the gun. Later on, the gun was used again, this time with blanks. IIRC it was a full load blank. When the blank was fired, it shot the bullet that was already in the barrel and hit Brandon Lee. Neglegence killed him. No one checked the gun after the first time it was used and it led to his death. There was a documentary type show that had Linda Lee in it talking about Brandon and his fathers death a few years ago.

somehow a piece of metal from a blank shot got lodged in the barrel. when another blank was shot it dislodged that piece of metal into brandon's chest

however the scientific technical explanation is that the curse of his father caught up with him.

As said above, it was due to carelessness in not checking the prop pistol after having been fired in a previous scene.

I do know that after this event, Hollywood got VERY strict about safety concerning prop firearms (as they always should have been). I think they even mentioned it in an episode of project: greenlight. Something along the lines of the prop master guy (or whatever he's called) saying, "after what happened with Brandon Lee, we're not gonna let that happen again."

Jon-Erik Hexum played Russian roulette with a prop gun on the set of his show Cover Up and killed himself with a blank.

FYI he as also on the show Voyagers! time-travelling with a little kid.
