So I was thinking of getting a vapochill,,,,

Basically, would you get the basic vapo, or go for the lightspeed?

Also, vapochills are pretty much risk free, right? As long as you OC sensibly and don't push it too far, it's no more dangerious than air?

I would like to get my FX-55 to 3.2, is this a reasonable expectation?

If you are going for the greatest cooling capacity, go ahead and get the Lightspeed. There is always a risk involved in extreme cooling. If you do not prepare your system properly, condensation could become an issue.

With that said, I have been very happy with my PE unit. 🙂 The current mounting kits are very, very good, and easy to install. I have run mine for months at a time with no condensation issues whatsoever. I prefer the Vapochill to any of the watercooling rigs I have put together, and would not go back to any other type of cooling.

I suggest that you do some browsing at the Vapochill Forums for more info...

I could be wrong, but I've heard that A64's(and FX's) have an issue with running at extremely low temps, I've seen some threads on Ananad somewhere, so you may want to research that some first, just incase...

Hmmm. Have to look into that...

Cool. Still torn between various vapochill models thought....

about a64's having trouble ocing at extremely low tems, remember that the p4 northwood and prescott are built for low ipc and high clockspeeds, whereas a64 is built for high ipc and lower clockspeeds. prescott was planned to go above 5 GHz on air, but heat issues make it stuck at 3.8 that means if you can cool it, you should be able to go to 5+ without too much trouble. also, current a64 was meant to go to about 3GHz. which they are very close to. cooling isn't necessarily the problem beyond that. there are some things in the proc. that just don't work fast enough even at negative 11ty billion degrees. prescott's innards were probly desined to work at speeds near 6 ghz, but the cpu as a whole couldn't when they put it together. look at extremesystems.org for the best overclockers
