So I was thinking about how games portray the future...

Man, pretty much any game that takes place in the future involves mankind getting the crap kicked out of them, whether it be by themselves, or by aliens.

Earth 2150 - OMG the world is spinning to the sun, lets run like hell & kill eachother at the same time!
Earth 2160 - OMG that was close, now lets just kill eachother on different planets, and the aliens can come too!
Halo Series - OMG the aliens are kicking the crap out of mankind!
Carmageddon (British version) - OMG everyone turned into zombies! lets run em over!!
Alien vs Predator - OMG we're all gonna die!! *slit* *head rolls off body*
Battlefield 2142 - OMG Earth sucks! lets all kill eachother over one piece of land!
Command & Conquer series (including C&C3) - OMG Nod is kicking the crap out of us, fire the lazers!!!!!
Deus Ex 1 & 2 - OMG we're all going to have chips planted in our nuts so the government can track us!!
Freelancer - OMG yay! lets kill eachother, oh! wait! aliens! they can join the fun now too!
Freespace 2 - Sooo uhhh, we're kinda stuck here away from Earth....OMG ALIENS AAaahhhhhh!!
Oni - Uh... kill kill kill!!
Savage - Man: OMG, we screwed up big time. Animals: No crap, you're gonna die clown!!
Starcraft: OMG its the Zerg! Run like hell! OMG the Protoss are here too! SH1t!

And so much more.

We'd have to breed faster in order to take these kind of massacres.....

Video games have never been able to predict the future...

hell even MGS2 was supposed to be 2006

and Metal Gear was like 10 years in the future and that wasn't true at all

Well a realistic futuristic video game probably wouldnt be played by anyone.

Fallout is the only one that I can think of right now that is somewhat possible. China will become a super power and oil will become super scarce. Then a big war with the dropping of nukes over the last oil supply in the world.
