And I looked on the box (they are still sealed) and it said use before April 2002. I don't have a pritner to test them in, do you think they could possibly still be good since they're still sealed?

It's possible. Since they were a gift, you are not risking any $$$. Only one way to find out. Try and observe the result.

BTW - what brand are we talking about? That could make a difference in risk to your printer if uses a permanent print head (a la Canon or Epson.) No risk at all with HP because the print head is part of the ink cartridge.

The thing is though, I don't have a printer to test them out in. They are the official HP ones, I have two 25s, and one 24.

OK, those should work OK. H-P seals their carts pretty well, and the print heads are part of the cartridge. So, it can't hurt anything. Hmmm! If you don't have a printer, . . . what is the objective here?

25 and 24 - are those the cartridge numbers? What printers are listed on the sides of the boxes?

OK - a Google tells me the 35 is a tri-color cart for the following HP printers:

310/320/340/400/500c/540/550/560
DeskWriter 310/320/400/550C/560C/C

The 24 is the black for the same models. They retail for about $30 each.

Thats why I want to know if they work or not, I plan on trying to sell them.

OK - fair enough. Why not sell them conditionally, i.e., money back if they don't work? Maybe $10 each. Should be a ganga deal - like outdated milk. :)

Be upfront about the date and let the buyer take the chance. They'd go as-is if was me selling them. No way to tell if they'll work other than trying them in a printer - their value drops significantly when opened.
