So I was given a prescription for Lunesta today.

You are really making me want to try this stuff. I lost the ability to sleep after doing third shift for too long and I'm still messed up even after a year off third shift. I just popped a Xanax a few minutes ago. I need a couple days worth of sleep.

xanax will not promote restful sleep.

I wonder how difficult it would be to snag a few samples from my doc?

Should be just a matter of mentioning trouble falling to sleep, you have heard good things about it and would like to try it before commiting to a script🙂

hey guys I'm a sleep tech ( I work in a hospital doing testing on people with sleeping problems)
I thought I'd throw in my 2cents. I like lunesta but ambien seems to work with more people. I have had everal patients where the lunesta had no affect at all. most people like if but a few reported no difference. Ambien seems to have a slightly higher success rate.

Also recommend you see a sleep clinic, you may have sleep apnea, which is leaving you brain with too little oxygen, and thus stopping you from entering rem sleep cycle.

not technically true, the low O2 hurts your brain and your heart. the arousal from the drop in O2 gives you a bad nights sleep. you probably have REM sleep just not a lot of it.

expensive drugs for the rest of your life FTW!

seriously, exercise helps me sleep well, I recommend it to everyone, and get this it is free!

then again it is not as easy as popping pills.

then again that wont help for everyone (me included, exercise 5x a week)
I usually just toss and turn, or sometimes get up and have a beer, that helps too.
As far as any of the sleep pills being addictive- no matter if it actually is or not, you'll probably just get addicted to falling asleep that easy. I.E your body may not have withdrawls, but mentally you will crave the easy sleep you were getting with the pill, not having to "work at it".
But as long as there arnt any side effects and you have the $$$ for it, then I dont see why u couldnt just always take them.

I run around all day, every day chasing two small children, and taking care of a household and such. I am a busy body by nature and always have been. This excercise theory that keeps popping up doesnt work for some people.

I am dead worn out at the end of the day, but still cant fall to sleep without some help. Its just the way my brain is wired.

How do you guys have trouble sleeping? I go to sleep when I'm tired, and the second I lay my heead on the pillow I'm out.

Those both require getting the script from the Doctor still I think. My doctor just handed me some trial wrapped Lunesta on the spot so I could see if it was for me before writing the script.
