A piece of computer equipment that has been laying around a garage for two years and is who know how much older, worthless.

it's worth nothing.

if it's a 486, windows 3.1 or *maybe* windows 95 is as good as it gets.

What 3chordcharlie said, and, as far as value:

1. Door stop.
2. Boat anchor for small fishing boat.
3. Interesting looking planter?

Maybe you could make it into one of those digital picture frame things.... if the screen isn't total total crap (which it must be)

A few years back, I stomped the shlt out of an HP printer that had been giving me grief for a few weeks. It felt so damn good to watch parts flying accross my driveway (by the way those things are more sturdy than you would think....).

Anyhow, next time your computer gives you grief, take that printer out and give it a two foot mod. GuaranDamnTeed to make your day!

If you are going to talk about your mother's garage then put it in OT.

If you are going to ask about technology, put a proper topic.

Thanks :)

I think he was alright to put it in here. Did you read the thread? It's about possible uses for an old computer. I'd call that general hardware.

Some people post just to increase their Post count.

Anyways OP, not much to be done with it.

EDIT: Take it apart. Have you ever dismantled a laptop? Pretty fun. Some guy's girlfriend ran over his laptop with her BMW Z3. He gave it to me and I took it apart. After that I sold it on ebay. Made a couple hundred bucks. Might as well have some fun.

Damn, a dead person, an archaic computer covered with dust in a garage.... Won't we all end up this way? Your thread just brought a tear to my eye. Why didn't you leave out the part about your mother... Old computer is one thing. That's another.

Laptop batteries back then were pretty darn good portable heaters. Could get a decent month of use out of it before Spring hits.

Heck, give it to NASA. From what I've read, some of the equipment on the shuttle isn't much more sophisticated than an 8086 processor. Highly customized, but not really "high tech."

I'd put it on Ebay. I'm sure soneone will pay something for it.

And I remember when those things came out. I thought they were a really cool idea. Wife didn't think coolness justified the cost. lol

Yeah, I read about that too. I think it's because all the random radiation and crap in space that isn't filtered out by an atmosphere. A modern processor would just randomly open and close its gates and be totally useless.
