At 3 AM...

I was heading to work and got in my truck when I saw a police car turn down the street. I wait for him to pass before backing out but he stops right at the end of my driveway. He gets out and approaches my vehicle, tapping on the window. I open up and he says there's been some car break-ins in the area lately and asked if I kept my doors locked. I said yes and he says 'take care' and walks back to his police vehicle and drives away.

I nearly shit my pants. I'm scared of cops. Naturally when one approaches me I assume they're going to try to arrest me for something.

But false alarm, I guess. Still seemed kinda weird. Maybe he thought I was breaking into someone's vehicle. Cops don't usually patrol around here at night.

Anywho, just wanted to share. I know how much ATOT loves cops. :awe:

(P.S. On the way to work I hit a raccoon. :()

Im guessing if you looked like a cracked out dude all sweaty and nervous, things may have gone differently.

That's cool that he was patrolling though. That'd make me feel safer knowing he's watching out.

Car break-ins are pretty common these days. It's wise to always lock your cars doors unless in really bad areas...then it's wise to leave them unlocked or risk having to replace windows often.

So you're all pissed because he didn't cavity search you and you took it out on a poor raccoon? Sad.

I've been around cops so damn much it's second nature around them. Once I pleaded the 4th for not letting a cop go through my back pack. man they fucking had the dog sniff it and every damn thing. took forever to be on my marry way all because I exercised my rights.

I listen to the PD on my scanner and next year the bastards are going full blown encryption. Total BS! This isn't Detroit, New York, Miami or LA. It's a small Christian town of some sixty six thousand.

This exact scenario happened to me a few years ago. (except for hitting a raccoon). I was met at the end of my driveway by an officer who said there's been a lot of vehicle break-ins. He asked if I knew of any, I said "no". He said "thanks" and "tell your wife and kids to be cautious in your neighborhood." I confirmed he was actual PD to the best of my ability, then I read an article at work that morning revealing auto theft and vehicle break-ins in the exact area.

I remember the first time I saw lights flashing as I was driving, I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest. I pulled over and that's when I realized the cop was going after somebody else. Sudden sigh of relief.

Funny thing is cops here don't beat you down or shoot you like in the states so I don't really have to be scared of them, but guess it's just the idea of being in trouble with the law. I did have a cop yell at me once though but it's because I drove into a closed lane that was completely unmarked so he banged in my window and yelled at me when I was at the red light, in the wrong lane. Normally the proper lane but they had closed it down and did not mark it.

Did get stopped twice though, heart was pounding till I actually talked to the cop, both times it was a nice guy and all went smooth.
