I've been to Beijing when I was younger and love the Asian culture. I am very intrigued by Tokyo and want to visit very badly. How much would a good fun trip to Tokyo cost and how long is a decent time to stay?

The Japanese don't have a problem with young Americans that want to visit the country to have fun and learn about the culture. They have a problem with the Americans that go over there and act like demons from hell.

As for what to do and where to go in Tokyo, that definitely depends on what sort of things you enjoy doing.
 
tokyo is fun. just don't hang out in roppongi where all the sleazy foreigners hang out unless your goal is to score with some japanese chick =)

It's a lot more expensive to visit Tokyo than Beijing. I would stay for at least a week for vacation to get my money's worth on the plane ticket.

As someone who was raised there, you need lots of money. I'm glad you're going for the culture, a lot of us don't like how people are into it for the anime/manga thing.

Going back on topic, it is very expensive, OP. There's a lot in Tokyo, but if you visit all of Japan, a lot of the stuff you can get is cheaper and can be found elsewhere.
