i would VERY want to go with a 9800 Pro since i had one the longest time myself.

But basically ANY comparable AGP card would do as long as it has video-out and appropriate 3d capabilities.

What about a 6600 GT ?

I am planning to spend a max $55 or so on a refurb or someone from FS/T...but now one question is the PSU requirements. I just checked and it's some generic 200W (ugh) PSU...(Edit: she has a HP desktop and the PSU barnd is "bestec" :)

Any recommendations ?

Well whats the rest of the system? if the psu is enough will prolly depend on that.
If its like a celeron northwood than it will prolly work, if its some high clocked p4 u prolly will blow the supply.
Whats the 12 volt rail current on that thing anyways?

The 6600gt will consume much less power than the 9800pro, thats another thing to consider.

I'd suggest something like a x1300pro at this stage, or whatever Nvidia's low end AGP card is.

I loved my 9800 pro to death, but it was extremely heavy on the PSU...

That is the exact same PSU I had in my Compaq. A 218 watt Bestec. I used it for a year with a X800 Pro. Never had any problems what so ever. So im sure a 9800 Pro would be perfectly fine.

Someone I know used a 9800pro with a 250W bestec, so you could probably be fine. Give it a try, and if it doesn't work, get a new PSU.

That should work fine with the 9800 pro.
I have a shuttle with a 200w ps that has run 3.0 prescott @ 3.4, 9800 pro @xt speeds, 2gigs of ram, dvd-r, 2 hard drives for over 2 years without problems.
