since i'm only 18... i'll have no money for like 30 years. but what i wanted to know, is when you buy a car like that, do you ever actually get to own it or can you only lease it? on this porsche website i built a GT3 and MSRP was $99,000. and on the final page i wanted to get a quote but all i could see was lease options. do you never get to really own it?

Of course you can own them. Nearly all purchasers of Ferraris, Lambos, etc. pay cash for them (since they are very wealthy). Porsches are obviously slightly more accessible, and you can certainly purchase one if you can make the payments.

Just buy a 944 and be done with it. You can probably afford one of those.

most all can't afford one new. Most can't afford the maintenance.

get a used 911 and be done with it. Take care of it and you'll get your money back.

That same 2005 GT3 will be much more affordable in 20 years when you have some means.

If he's got the $5,000 to $6,000 to pay for a good N/A and the $2,000/year to maintain it and the $1,500/year to insure it then great idea.

Otherwise you're just helping him push one more 944 into the junkyard from a busted timing belt or other stupid and expensive stuff that happens when people buy the car because of the low purchase price and then never maintain the poor thing. :|

I have seen more than enough 924's and 944's driven into barely running piles of crap by owners who tried to get away cheaply from repairs.

Which reminds me, I need to have my timing belt tensioned in 500 miles.

How could anyone end up paying $1,500/year for liability insurance? You'd have to be insane to buy collision on a $5K car.
